You can never take back a first impression. This has been Melanie Vasseur's mantra since she was a young girl. Facial appearance alone is an accurate predictor of personality. "If your face is the first impression you give, why wouldn't you spend as much time taking care of it as you do your hair and nails?" she asks. Melanie is the owner of Vasseur Skincare and Day Spa located in San Diego. Her full service Spa utilizes Melanie's own line of skincare products which are sold world-wide through the Internet or directly from the Spa. "A good facial should not be about massage - it should be about taking care of your skin," she says. "Many women come to the Spa who have never had a facial before."
Melanie is passionate about good skincare because of her own struggles with problem skin and acne as a young girl. In college she received a degree in Nutritional Science and Food Chemistry. In 1987 she developed her first original line of skincare products.
She takes great pride in the integrity of her products which consist of all vitamin-based natural ingredients locally prepared in small batches that allows the products to contain high doses of vitamins without the added chemicals or oils that can irritate skin. "My products are medical grade, not what you find over-the-counter," she says. Her skincare line includes treatment for wrinkles, acne, problem skin, rosacea and sun damage. She also offers cleansers, moisturizers and anti-aging solutions including Face Firm with Idebenone, one of the most exciting new skincare ingredients. Only a few companies world-wide offer products containing this ingredient. Eye-Q Gel which is a topical Botox for combating wrinkles and puffiness around the eyes, and "Hot Lips" lip plumper are both enormously popular. She continually develops new products as a direct result of her client's requests or needs.
The success of Vasseur's Skincare and Day Spa has resulted in the need to relocate to a new, larger location effective June 1st. Melanie is renovating an 1887 Historic Landmark building which will soon become the Spa's new home at 1930 1St. Ave, San Diego, CA 92101.
Considered one of the top spas in America, and one of the most affordable, Vasseur is a skin-focused Day Spa. "We want to help our clients have beautiful skin," Melanie explains. Melanie believes that facials and good skincare should be available for everyone. Her goal is to give her clients the power to take care of themselves. "Our job is to make our clients role models for healthy skin."
